Phases 1–3 · ShippedAlready in the app

• Backup & Restore. Your boards, buttons, photos, and settings in one local file you can save anywhere and restore on any device. No cloud, no account.
• Sentence Builder. An opt-in mode where taps build a sentence in a strip above the grid, then speak it all at once.
• Core-Word Starter Board. A pre-loaded board of high-frequency words (I, want, more, go, stop, help) in fixed positions so motor memory can build.

Thank you to every family, SLP, and reviewer who sent feedback along the way. Much of what comes next is shaped by it.

Phase 4 · Up nextWord Prediction

As a sentence gets built, Oggy suggests the words most likely to come next, so common messages take fewer taps and less searching.

• A suggestion strip sits just above the grid while Sentence Builder is on. Tap a suggestion to add it.
• It works from day one using a built-in list of common word pairings, then adapts to the words each communicator actually uses.
• It builds on the related word forms Oggy already shows (need, needs, needed), with better support for verb tenses and plurals.
• Prediction can be switched off in settings for anyone who prefers a still, predictable board.

All learning happens on the device. No sentence, word, or pattern ever leaves the phone.

Phase 5 · PlannedQuick-Access Row

A pinned strip of the buttons and phrases used most, so everyday needs are always one tap away, whichever board is open.

• Choose between most recent and most used, or turn the row off.
• Caregivers can pin specific buttons so they never drop out of the row.

Phase 6 · PlannedSaved Sentences

Turn a sentence you build often into a single button. “I want to go outside please” becomes one tap instead of six.

• Save straight from the sentence strip, then give it a symbol and color like any other button.
• Bridges the two ways Oggy works: build word by word while learning, then keep the sentences that stick.

Phase 7 · PlannedMultiple Boards & Profiles

Separate boards for different communicators or settings, like home, school, and therapy, each with its own buttons and layout.

• Persistent navigation to move between boards and the Food, People, Places, Feelings, Things, and Activities category pages.
• Profiles for families or classrooms with more than one communicator on the same device.
• Boards travel with Backup & Restore like everything else.

Phase 8 · PlannedProgress Insights for Caregivers & SLPs

A simple, opt-in view of which words and phrases get used most over time. It's meant for therapy check-ins and IEP conversations, not for surveillance.

• Off by default, and kept behind the parental PIN.
• Stored only on the device. Share a summary only if and when you choose to.

Phase 9 · PlannedPrint & Export Boards

Export any board as a printable PDF or image grid. It's a low-tech backup for a dead battery, the pool, or a classroom wall.

Being exploredFurther out

These are ideas under active consideration, without a phase yet:

• Bilingual buttons. One button that can speak in two languages, for bilingual households.
• A standardized symbol set. Many AAC users learn on established symbol libraries rather than emoji. Offering one alongside photos and emoji is being looked into.
• Everyday polish. Undo after deleting a button, and larger tap targets on settings controls.

Why this order

Word Prediction comes first because Sentence Builder and the core-word board are now in place, and prediction is what makes building a sentence fast. The Quick-Access Row and Saved Sentences come next because they lean on the same on-device record of what gets said. Multiple boards follow once that foundation is settled, and insights and printing round things out for the SLPs and classrooms using Oggy.
